As innovators in the new “green” home construction and remodeling movement, Heritage Builders obtained special designation for this two-story home renovation in south Minneapolis. To meet the criteria of this cutting-edge environmental program, Heritage Builders will follow specific guidelines and standards, all of which will be verified by a third party.
The guidelines include: geothermal heating and cooling; cement-based siding and exterior trim; Energy Star-rated appliances and lighting fixtures; low-flow plumbing fixtures; reclaimed ceramic tile; 40-year shingles; recycled materials and salvaged fixtures; and rain barrels to collect water for use in the yard.
